Shopping for Maternity Clothes

1. When should I start shopping for maternity clothes?
You should begin shopping for maternity clothes whenever your normal clothes begin to feel uncomfortable. Typically this happens in the third or fourth month of pregnancy, though it may happen earlier, especially if this is not your first pregnancy. Many women try to ignore the discomfort and pain of ill-fitting pants at first and put-off buying maternity clothes. Since you will eventually be buying them anyways (you really will not feel comfortable or attractive in normal clothes several sizes to big for you), it makes sense to buy them at the first sign of discomfort and get as much use out of them as you can.

2. What size should I order in maternity clothes?
Maternity clothes are designed so that you should wear the same size in maternity as you wore before you were pregnant. The designers make adjustments to suit the pregnant body, and not just around the waist. When appropriate, maternity clothes will allow more room in the chest and in the bottom and thighs to accommodate your growing body. However, if you find that you need to go up or down from your normal size, remember that all of our bodies are unique in the way they change during pregnancy. Euphoria Maternity is happy to help you exchange for a different size so that your garment fits just right. Don't forget to consult our TruFit Sizing™ Guide. With TruFit Sizing™ you can shop confidently, knowing that you'll get the right fit most every time!

3. Can I wear these clothes after the baby is born?
One of the best things about the way that modern maternity clothes are designed is that many work wonderfully for the postpartum adjustment. Although you do lose some weight immediately upon delivery, most women find that they are still larger than they were before they had become pregnant. This is because your body stores up extra nutrients in order to protect your health and the health of your baby should there be an unexpected shortage of food during your pregnancy. In addition, your body has stored nutrients in preparation for breastfeeding. Don’t worry, you will lose that extra weight in due time. Meanwhile, what to wear? Hopefully you will not need to invest in postpartum clothing because your maternity clothes will do the job. Under-the-belly pants and skirts should fit comfortably against your new waist. Many designers featured on our site make pants and skirts that are designed to look just like normal clothing without any telltale panel or discolored waistband. Tops made of stretchy material will bounce back to fit your postpartum shape. All in all, if you have purchased maternity clothing without old-fashioned panels, and if you have avoided the tent look for a more fitted silhouette, your maternity clothes should continue to keep you looking fashionable and attractive during the postpartum adjustment period.

Shopping for Maternity/Nursing Bras

1. How do I choose the right bra for me?
It is essential that your maternity or nursing bra fit properly so that you will be comfortable and well-supported, and so that your milk glands will not be irritated by the bra. All of the bras carried by Euphoria Maternity are specially designed for pregnant and nursing women. In fact, lactation consultants have approved the bras to be safe for developing milk glands.
When choosing a bra, first consider how it may be used. Although you may be looking for a bra for use during your pregnancy, if you plan to nurse you would be wise to purchase a nursing bra. No one knows what size you’ll be when nursing, but it is likely that bras you purchased while pregnant may fit after your milk flow has become regular. If so, you will avoid purchasing extra bras. Even if not, you'll benefit during your pregnancy from the extra support of a quality nursing bra.
Once you have determined what type of bra you need, consider if you have a preference for underwire or soft cup bras. Women who have larger breasts or who have mainly worn underwire bras are likely to feel most comfortable in an underwire bra. The Underwire bra by Melinda G would be a great choice for you. Women who don’t require as much support or who have sensitive breasts are likely to feel more comfortable in a soft cup bra. Our bras by Japanese Weekend and Bella Materna are wonderful soft cup bras. If you require extra support, but do not like underwire, the Bravado bra is an excellent choice. Many women prefer to buy an underwire bra for going out and a soft cup bra for lounging and sleeping at home.
Remember, it is important to get a bra that fits just right. If you are not fully satisfied with the bra you have ordered, please take advantage of our easy returns process. We are happy to help you return or exchange until you are completely satisfied.

2. How do I choose a bra for use after birth when my milk is coming in?
It is difficult to estimate what size bra you will need for the time right after birth and the weeks that follow. This is because your milk will be coming in, so that your bra size will fluctuate until your body has determined how much milk to produce on a regular bases. In the meantime, it is best to wear a bra that allows for that fluctuation, such as a soft cup bra by Bravado or Japanese Weekend. Bravado is best for those women who want maximum support, while Japanese Weekend is best for women who desire a very soft, stretchy bra. To get the best fit, wait to purchase your bra until you are about 36 weeks pregnant. At that point you will want to have your bra ready to go in case you have an early delivery and will have left as much time as possible for your breasts to grow into their true pregnancy size.
